The tnsnames.ora file contains one or more database connection details that SAS, ODBC, SQL Developer, etc., uses to connect to an oracle  database. When a database is migrated, it may be necessary to update its entry in the tnsnames file, unless a cname (alias) is being used.


There can be multiple tnsnames.ora files when a SAS installation is present. Below are some common locations:
